Learn more about Phylax and how your dogs can benefit for life
At what age and for how long should Phylax be used?
Phylax works at any age. So you can use it from puppyhood on. Many owners may choose to give their young dog some lifelong protection from joint wear that may affect them later in life. This is especially so for some breeds and for working or competitive dogs.
How long does Phylax take to work?
Phylax goes to work immediately. If you are using it as a preventative or with a young dog you won't be expecting to see changes, but nevertheless Phylax is busy protecting in the background. If you use Phylax with an older dog already suffering some cartilage damage then improvements will be seen gradually. Regeneration takes time so expect to evaluate after 12 weeks
Is Phylax a collagen supplement?
No, not really. Phylax does not contain sufficient collagen to have the effect of a collagen supplement. Collagen supplements work by supplying the joints with a supply of collagen for renewal of cartilage. A dog would need to consume several grams a day of collagen to have an effect. Phylax works differently by stimulating the immune system to produce extra "growth factor"(TGF-ß) and "anti-inflammatory"(IL-10) bio-active compounds within the cartilage. These compounds reduce inflammation, promote cartilage growth and most importantly reduce loss of cartilage with both wear and tear and ageing.
As part of Phylax is derived from Chicken - is it suitable for dogs that are sensitive or allergic to chicken?
The straightforward answer is that Phylax will not trigger any allergic reaction in dogs that are sensitive to chicken. So it is safe to use for these dogs. The patented ingredient in Phylax that comes from chicken is derived from chicken cartilage not the meat containing the proteins that dogs can be sensitive to. There is no chicken meat in Phylax.
Are there any side effects or dangers?
There are no known side effects with this technology. It has been well studied and applied in humans and other animal species completely safely
My dog is very big, surely one tiny capsule a day will not be enough?
Yes it will. Remember Phylax stimulates the immune system to soothe and grow cartilage. It only takes 40mg of the patented cartilage extract that we use to do this - even for the largest dogs
How much does it cost to use?
Little more than 20p per day. It is probably less expensive to use than other joint supplements because any size dog only needs one capsule per day. This makes it especially beneficial for owners of large dogs
What are the ingredients in Phylax?
Ingredients per capsule: 40mg Immuno-modulating hyaline cartilage extract (patented) from chicken, gum arabic (bulking agent), silicon dioxide (flow agent), cellulose capsule shell
